(Preliminary) Japan’s 2019 LNG Imports Drop 7% YoY

According to the trade statistics (preliminary) released by the Ministry of Finance of Japan on January 23rd, Japan’s LNG imports in the calendar year of 2019 were 77.327 million mt, down by 6.7% from a year earlier. Its LNG imports that surged after the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011 have been on the decrease trend in response to resumption of nuclear power plants and other factors, and marked in 2019 below 80 million mt for the first time in eight years.
