Qatar Petroleum Signs LNG Shipbuilding Deals with Three S. Korean Shipbuilders

Qatar Petroleum (QP) on 1st announced it has reached shipbuilding agreements for LNG carriers with three South Korean shipbuilding giants, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME), Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) and Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI). QP has secured a major part of the three companies’ construction capacity for the year through 2027. With the big deals worth 70 billion Qatari Riyals (approximately US$18.6 billion), QP aims to strengthen its LNG fleet to meet its LNG expansion projects.
