FERC Issues Final Environmental Assessment for Alaska LNG Project

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) on 6th local time issued a final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the large-scale Alaska LNG production project. Same as the draft EIS released last July, the commission concluded: “impacts on surrounding areas will be mitigated enough by proposed measures,” expressing its positive view to the project. Meanwhile, it also pointed out some of the adverse impacts “would be significant even after the implementation of mitigation measures.” FERC intends to, based on the final EIS, make a final decision on the project by June 4th this year, according to an announced schedule.
