On November 28, 5 Japanese firms including Nippon Steel Corporation and Mitsui & Co., Ltd. decided to acquire a total of 12% interest in Grosvenor underground coal mine, a metallurgical coal mine in the State of QLD from Anglo American plc. The firms which will acquire the interest in Grosvenor coal mine are such 5 firms as (1) Nippon Steel Corporation, (2) Mitsui & Co., Ltd., (3) Nippon Steel Trading Corporation, (4) Shinsho Corporation and (5) JFE Mineral Company Ltd., and (1) will acquire 5%, (2) 4.75%, (3) 1.25%and (4) & (5) 0.5% respectively, of which Nippon Steel will acquire the said interest for A$86.4 million (about JPY6.6 billion) and Mitsui for A$82.1 million (about JPY6.2 billon).
