DOE Approves Non-FTA Export from Four LNG Projects

The Department of Energy (DOE) of the US announced on 10th that it has issued four non-FTA export approvals, for the Rio Grande LNG project, Texas LNG project, Annova LNG project, and the Corpus Christi Stage 3 expansion project. The total approved volume is 6.75 Bcf a day (approximately 49 million mt per annum). US Secretary of Energy Dan Brouillette commented on this: “The export capacity of these four projects alone is enough LNG to supply over half of Europe’s LNG import demand,” explaining how big the approved capacity is. With the four projects, DOE-approved export capacity to non-FTA countries reached 44.81 Bcf a day (approx. 330 mtpa). The LNG export capacity in the US will double in the next five years.
