Production at Moatize Coal Mine During January to March 1.96 Million Tons

Vale S.A., Brazil produced 1.963million tons of coal at Moatize coal mine in Mozambique in the period from January to March in 2020. This represents a decrease of 250,000 tons (11.3%) versus the year-earlier period. The production volume by coal type was 983,000 tons of metallurgical coal (down by 6.5% from the year-earlier period) and 980,000 tons of thermal coal (down by 15.7% ditto). Hence, the production ratio of metallurgical coal came to 50.1%, up by 6.1 points from the prior period (from October to December in 2019).
