Sempra Energy’s LNG Re-Export to Non-FTA Countries Authorized

The US Department of Energy (DOE) approved a request, submitted from Sempra Energy’s subsidiary, for re-export of LNG from Mexico to non-FTA countries. Sempra Energy is planning to produce LNG at the Costa Azulterminal in Mexico, which is now working as an LNG import terminal, by importing US-produced natural gas. With thisapproval, the Company has acquired permission to export 636 Bcf/year (about 12.5 mtpa) of LNG.The Costa Azul LNG import terminal along the west coast of Mexico, started in 2008, is operated by EnergiaCosta Azul (ECA), subsidiary of Infrastructura Energetica Nova (IEnova) owned 66.43% by Sempra Energy.
