According to the Energy Information Administration (EIA) of USA, 324 million short tons (ST) of coal was produced in the Powder River Basin (PRB) in this country in the year 2018. The coal production volume in 2018 in the U.S. was 756 million ST. In view of this, the coal production volume in PRB accounts for about 43% of the total coal production volume in the U.S.
