OG&E applies to buy two generating facilities

Oklahoma Gas and Electric formally applied Wednesday with the Arkansas Public Service Commission for approval to buy an existing gas-fired power plant and an existing coal-fired plant. In October, OG&E issued an RFP seeking bids for projects that will be used to satisfy OG&E’s load and planning reserve obligations as a Load Responsibility Entity with the Southwest Power Pool beginning in 2019. That RFP process resulted in asset purchase agreements between OG&E and Oklahoma Cogeneration LLC, for a 146-MW natural gas combined-cycle facility; and AES Shady Point LLC, for a 360-MW coal-fired plant.
