U.S. rail coal loadings continue to trend down: AAR

The ugliness of rail coal deliveries through the first two weeks of September is – to put it mildly – depressing for U.S. coal producers. According to data from the Association of American Railroads (AAR), total coal carloads for the week ending Sept. 14 were estimated at 80,753, down by 5.8% year on year despite being slightly above the 2019 weekly average of 78,425.
