Near-month Henry Hub natural gas contracts underwent another price spike Monday, although not to the degree of the near-$5/MMBtu pop in November. It was mostly over by Friday. And the $3.59/MMBtu for the February delivery contract and $3.27 for March are price points – as of Monday afternoon – that no one should get used to, according to a new study by IHS Markit’s North American Natural Gas team. Sure enough, the contracts marked at $3.27 and $3.09/MMBtu, respectively, as of Friday morning, not quite erasing the week’s gains, but close enough.
