With just six weeks left in 2019, the nation’s Class 1 weekly coal carloads dropped 15.8% from the comparable year-ago week to 72,611, according to the Association of American Railroads. For the 46 weeks so far this year, coal carloads totaled 3,579,246, averaging 77,810 and down 8.1% from the same period in 2018.
