Pre-winter gas use up; HH prices continue to slide

A burst of Northeast pre-winter weather has boosted natural gas withdrawals this past week even as Henry Hub prices continued to reflect plentiful supply. IHS Markit, in its latest US Natural Gas Weekly Storage Outlook, estimates a 76 Bcf withdrawal from the lower 48 states’ gas storage for the week ending Dec. 6. This is “8 Bcf larger than the prior five-year withdrawal, 1 Bcf above the year-earlier draw, and 57 Bcf larger than the EIA’s reported draw for the previous week,” Logan Reese, research and analysis associate director, writes in the update.
