Australia’s Bengalla thermal coal JV to see Mitsui bow out, New Hope take controlling stake

Australian miner New Hope announced Monday it has enteredinto agreements with Bengalla thermal coal mine joint venturepartners Taipower of Taiwan and Japanese trader Mitsui that will seethe former increase its stake in the project to 20% and the latter exitits 10% equity stake in the mine.As part of New Hope’s deal with Wesfarmers to take over its 40%interest in Bengalla, Mitsui has waived its pre-emptive right in respectof the Wesfarmers transaction and agreed to sell its 10% stake in theproject to New Hope, New Hope said in a filing to the AustralianSecurities Exchange.
