Premium Low Vol FOB coal prices retreated Tuesday as offers inched lower in a bid to spur demand in a muted market, while Chinese prices held steady with sellers in wait-and-see mode after Monday’s crunch in PLV prices. S&P Global Platts assessed Premium Low Vol coal down $1.75/mt day on day at $191/mt FOB Australia and the CFR China market unchanged over the same period at $195/mt. The FOB market saw prices retreat on lower offers amid weak demand. The most competitive offer was at $190/mt FOB Australia for 75,000 mt of HCCA branded with mid-August laycan, down $3/mt from Monday.
