London—The trading picture in Atlantic Basin thermal coal markets saw little change from last week Monday, with European prices remaining under pressure from low natural gas and high carbon prices, while the South African market continued to defy expectations by being supported at high levels. In Europe, familiar drivers of high coal stocks and competitive gas prices put prompt demand under pressure, a paradigm which sources did not expect to change through to the end of the year.
