Coal stocks at indian power plants hit 27 mil mt, imported volumes reach 20-month high: CEA

Thermal coal stocks at Indian power plants rose to 27 million mt in the week ending Wednesday, the highest volume since April 2017, data from the Central Electricity Authority showed. Stocks were up 5% on the week and 76% on the year, enough for 16 days cover, the data showed. It was also the first time this year that stocks were higher than the comparable 2017 date. Stocks of imported thermal coal also rose to 946,000 mt, the highest level since July 2017.
