Buying activity for Australian thermal coal emerged Thursday but price disparity between the concluded trades came a surprise to many, sources said Thursday. Two Capesize cargoes of Australian 5,500 kcal/kg NAR grade were heard Thursday, with one trading at $58-$59/mt FOB Newcastle for end-May loading likely destined for India, while another June-loading Capesize vessel reportedly traded at $60.75/mt FOB to an unknown destination, sources said.
