Asia met coal prices steady amid thin trading during Chinese holiday

Singapore—The seaborne metallurgical coal prices were unchanged as the spot market were muted amid the absence of Chinese buyers due to Golden Week celebrations. S&P Global Platts assessed Premium Low Vol unchanged at $161/mt CFR China, and the PLV FOB Australia prices were steady at $147/mt Thursday. Metallurgical spot market activities were thin as non-China market participants await the return of the Chinese buyers. Market participants said the spot market prices look uncertain in the next 2-3 months, as demand from the Chinese buyers remain unclear and if there would be stricter port policies post holidays.
