Asia met coal continues to rally on restocking activities

Seaborne metallurgical coal prices edged up in both the FOB and CFR markets with fresh trades made to end-users. S&P Global Platts assessed Premium Low Vol coal up $1.25/mt day on day at $201.75/mt FOB Australia, while the CFR China assessment rose $5.50/mt to $205.25/mt Tuesday. In China, restocking activities continued ahead of the Lunar New Year celebrations. A trade was done for 85,000 mt of Premium Mid Vol Goonyella coal at $203/mt CFR China with March 1-10 laycan. This was sold to an end-user.
