China’s Jan-Feb coal output slips amid mine shutdowns; gas output, imports surge: NBS data

China’s domestic coal output declined in the first two months of 2019, while production of natural gas jumped by close to 10% year on year, as the country boosts usage of cleaner energy, official data showed Thursday. According to data released by China’s National Bureau of Statistics, domestic crude coal output was down 1.5% year on year to 500 million mt in the January-February 2019 period.
