Kyiv—Ukraine’s imports of coal, including anthracite, fell 1.4% year on year to 21.08 million mt in 2019, down from 21.39 million mt imported in 2018, state customs service data showed Tuesday. The value of coal imports decreased by 7.2% to $2.82 billion, compared with $3.04 billion worth of imports in 2018, according to the customs service. Most of the coal imports, 58.2%, came from Russia, but also from the US.(31.6%), Kazakhstan (4.8%) and other countries (5.5%), according to the customs service. In the previous year, Ukraine imported the commodity mostly from Russia (60%), the U.S. (30%) Canada (5.4%) and other countries (4.6%).
