Coal India’s September output rises 31.6% on year

New Delhi—State-run Coal India Ltd., or CIL, produced 40.51 million mt coal in September 2020, registering a growth of 31.6% on the year, the company said in a statement Oct. 1. The top three subsidiaries of CIL that contributed most to the growth in September were Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd., or MCL, at 10.58 million mt, up 68.5% on the year, followed by Central Coalfields Ltd. or CCL, at 4.83 million mt, up 47.4% on the year and Western Coalfields Ltd., or WCL, at 2.51 million mt, up 43.7% from last year, the company said.
