VIETNAM DATA: July coal imports rise 9% on year, but drop 30% from June

Hanoi—Vietnam’s coal imports, comprising mainly thermal and coking coal, rose 9% on the year but dropped 30.2% from June to nearly 4.4 million mt, according to preliminary data released Aug. 12 by Vietnam Customs. Coal-fired power is currently the largest power generation source in Vietnam. The value of the imports in July was down 21.5% year on year and 30.2% from June to $267 million.
