China’s Jingtang port clearing non-Australian origin met coal more quickly: sources

Singapore—Non-Australian metallurgical coal cargoes are being cleared more promptly than Australian at China’s Jingtang port, Chinese market sources told S&P Global Platts. Waiting times at Jingtang, one of the main coking coal ports in Northern China, have increased after the Chinese government imposed a strict import quota system from May to control the influx of coking coal. Market sources said Australian metallurgical coal cargoes faced longer waiting times for port clearance than coal from other origins such as Russia, Canada or the US.
