Propylene prices in Mexico remained stable for the week, despite reported production issues in downstream acrylonitrile. In the domestic market, Pemex Petroquimica was heard offering polymer-grade propylene at $1,137/mt FOB, while chemical-grade propylene was heard at $1,052/mt FOB. The levels were near contracts levels seen in the US Gulf Coast, which for August put PGP at 50.50 cents/lb ($1,113/mt) and CGP at 49 cents/lb ($1,080/mt). However, as some production issues prevailed in the US Gulf Coast after Hurricane Isaac hit the Louisiana coastline last week, US propylene prices were expected to increase in the coming weeks, sources said.
