The US August paraxylene contract price settled up 6.15 cents at 69 cents/lb ($1,521/mt), sources said Thursday. Sources saw the higher CP as in line with spot PX movements. Spot PX prices rose roughly $145/mt during July, ending the month at $1,350/mt FOB US Gulf Coast, according to Platts data. Additionally, the higher PX CP was attributed to rising feedstock costs, particularly due to higher feedstock mixed xylene. Spot MX prices gained about 60 cents/gal during the first half of July on strong blend demand but have recently declined as previous supply disruptions were resolved and incoming imports have eased supply tightness.
