European linear low density polyethylene spot prices edged down on the week as buyers turned risk averse. Despite an increase in the ethylene contract price for March, spot buying found little support. The European ethylene contract price for April fully settled at Eur1,345/mt FD, an increase of Eur40/mt on February, driven by cracker operators' attempts to lift negative spot and contract margins. In the butene spot market, offers were heard at Eur1,330-1,350/mt FD NWE. One trader reported hearing offers as low as Eur1,300/mt FD NWE. "At the beginning of January, we had 80 days of stock.
