Asian monoethylene glycol prices rebounded this week, snapping a two-week downtrend amid bargain hunting and increased downstream market activity. MEG was assessed at $966/mt CFR China Friday at 4:30 pm Singapore time, up $16/mt from Thursday last week at 12:30 pm Singapore time (0430 GMT). Platts moved forward its assessment timing by four hours to 12:30 pm last Thursday and did not publish assessments on Friday last week due to a public holiday in Singapore. The weekly average rose $2/mt Friday from last Thursday to $958/mt CFR China. Buying activity increased as the downstream polyester market gained steam this week.
