The 3- to 30-day US styrene assessment continued to rise this week, finishing 2.10 cents higher on the week, assessed at 72.10 cents/lb FOB USG Friday on tight supply and higher European styrene prices. The market was talked quiet for most of the week as there remains limited supply in the market. Traders were actively looking for product during the week, sources said, but as one trader said, "if someone can find product, more power to them." The arbitrage window to Europe remained open for the week, but the last deal heard was a 71-cent producer to trader export deal for 1,500 mt sent to Europe late last week.
