Continental Resources, one of the Bakken Shale's top producers, plans to nearly double hydraulic fracturing crews in the play this year as it works through its inventory of drilled but uncompleted wells, but will hold its rig count steady at four through 2017, company executives said during a Q4 earnings call Thursday. Continental, which reported that its Bakken production averaged about 104,500 boe/d in Q4, plans to increase its frack crews in the play from five to eight by mid-May as it completes 148 Bakken wells with first production this year. These crews will stimulate an additional 72 wells with first production slated for 2018, the company said.
