Washington-A $1/gal biodiesel blender's tax credit would be revived retroactively to 2018 and extended through 2022 under a spending plan that the US Congress will vote on this week. If approved, the return of the tax credit could boost US biodiesel production, spur some of the 250 million gallons in idled capacity to restart, and keep other plants from having to shut down. S&P Global Platts Analytics revised its outlook Tuesday for 2020 biomass-based diesel production to 2.56 billion gallons, up from 2.24 billion gallons for 2019.
