US crude exports fall to 3 mil b/d last week as Asia volumes taper off

Houston-Weekly US crude exports for the week ended Aug. 28 were just over 3 million b/d, according to the Energy Information Administration, as data from Kpler, a data intelligence company, shows export volumes to Asia have slowed amid tight arbitrage. The US exported around 680,372 b/d of crude oil to Asian destinations over the week ended Aug. 28, down over 187,000 b/d from the prior week, according to data from Kpler. Not only were exports to Asia down on the week, but they were nearly half of the 2020 year-to-date average of 1.29 million b/d. The last time US weekly crude exports to Asia were reported lower by Kpler was the week ended Oct. 11, 2019, when US crude export to Asia averaged 645,303 b/d.
