Japan seeks to expand oil, LNG storage amid energy security push

Tokyo-Japan is looking to expand the scope of cooperation with other Asian consumers in areas of oil and LNG storage in an effort to ensure stable energy supply, while working towards meeting its 2050 carbon neutral target. As part of a series of oil and gas policy reviews launched by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry on Dec. 8, METI is also aiming to support Japanese’ companies’ LNG trades overseas and meet greater LNG demand from Asia.
