Oil climbs on vaccine optimism but demand outlooks remain under pressure

New York—Crude futures settled higher after a volatile session Dec. 14 as the market balanced optimism surrounding the rollout of a COVID- 19 vaccine against freshly dimmed near-term demand outlooks. NYMEX January WTI settled 42 cents higher at $46.99/b and ICE February Brent settled up 32 cents at $50.29/b.
