Chevron, ExxonMobil, Vitol among oil companies renting space in US SPR: DOE

Washington—Chevron, ExxonMobil, Energy Transfer and Vitol are among the nine companies storing their own oil in the US Strategic Petroleum Reserve, a Department of Energy official said Thursday. The other SPR renters include, Atlantic Trading, Alon USA, Equinor Marketing & Trading, Mercuria Energy America and MVP Holdings. They negotiated to store a total of 23 million barrels in the government stockpile located at four sites on the Gulf Coast. DOE did not give a breakdown of volumes or any details on the companies’ storage contracts.
