London—Demand for road fuels in the UK surged by over 45% month on month in May from multidecade lows, while jet fuel demand in Europe’s second-biggest oil market continued to sink despite easing the lockdown to contain the spread of the coronavirus. According to official data submitted to the Joint Organizations Data Initiative (JODI) on July 2, demand for gasoline and diesel in the UK rose to 2.27 million mt in May, up from 1.56 million mt in April.
