Dubai—Iraq’s offer to crude buyers of a five-year contract for supply of 4 million barrels/month on a partially prepaid basis is garnering interest from several Asian oil companies, a source familiar with the matter told S&P Global Platts on Nov. 24. Iraq’s State Oil Marketing Organization (SOMO), responsible for federal exports, has sent a letter to oil companies informing them of the proposal, which includes upfront payment for a year’s worth of oil supply.
