Crude climbs off lows to settle even after US levies sanctions on Rosneft

New York-Crude futures moved steadily off overnight lows to settle around even Tuesday following the announcement of US sanctions on Russian state oil company Rosneft. NYMEX March WTI settle unchanged on the day at $52.05/b and ICE April Brent was up 8 cents at $57.75/b at market close. The US imposed sanctions on Rosneft Trading SA, the Geneva- based subsidiary of the Russian state oil company, on Tuesday for supporting Venezuela's oil sector by continuing to trade with sanctions-hit PDVSA, concealing shipments and handling more than half of the country's oil exports, senior US administration officials said during a briefing.
