US precious metals mostly slammed lower

Washington—The precious metals complex was slammed lower in Monday trading, with the exception of gold, as the markets opened to more concerns about the coronavirus and to massive slumps in equities markets and other commodities such as crude oil. However, gold futures derived some support from safe-haven buying amid the chaos. NYMEX platinum for delivery in April, the active month, lost $33.60 to close at $862.80/oz, while June palladium spiraled $33.50 lower to $2,405.70/oz.
