Diecasters cited better demand from automotive and other sectors, such as lawn and garden, enabling them to eat through inventories and dip into the spot market for specification diecast alloys. “We’ve seen a significant pickup in business, especially automotive, the past couple of months, and it looks like it’s continuing,” a supplier said. “Some automotive is doing better than others, but people are taking what they are supposed to [on contracts].”
