Trade in Cme’ s alumina FoB australia futures picks up in January

Singapore—CME Group’s alumina FOB Aus- tralia futures contract traded on five occa- sions in January with a a total of 190 lots, or 19,000 mt, and there was also an increase inthe aluminum CIF Japan market, data from the exchange showed. The CME has two alumina cash-settled FOB Australia contracts, one priced off assessments by S&P Global Platts and one using Metal Bulletin assessments. To date, only the Platts contract has traded, with open interest totaling 770 lots on January 31. One lot of LME contract represents 50 mt and settles against a basket of alumina prices from CRU and Fastmarkets MB.
