China Shanxi spot alumina drops Yuan 20/mt to Yuan 2,550/mt cash

Weak domestic aluminum prices and slow spot demand remained the primary fac- tors putting downward pressure on Chinese domestic alumina prices at the beginning of the week, sources said. The Platts Shanxi daily spot alumina assessment fell Yuan 20/mt ($2.91) on Monday to Yuan 2,550/mt ex-works in cash. The current price also represents a drop of Yuan 80/mt from July 8 and was down Yuan 525/mt from a month ago.
