摘要

The 2011 Best Overall Oral Paper, sponsored by Hawkes Bay Regional Council, was awarded to Simon Cox of GNS Science, with co-authors Martin Reyners, Donna Eberhart Phillips, Charles Williams and Helen Rutter (Aqualinc, Christchurch). His presentation was titled Darfield earthquake hydrological effects: agitated links between basement rocks and shallow aquifers. In his talk, Simon linked earthquake-related groundwater level changes in the shallow aquifers to much deeper changes in the greywacke basement rocks and suggested that aquifer pressure-release played an important role in liquefaction.
