Global Bio, Ineos & Clariant Get Funding To Demonstrate Bio-Isobutene Process

Evry—Global Bioenergies said it has signed a grant agreement with the Bio-Based Industries Joint Undertaking (BBI-JU) to demonstrate its renewable isobutene process with technologies developed by Ineos and Clariant (PCN, 8 May 2017, p 4). BBI-JU, a public-private partnership between the European Union and the Bio-Based Industries Consortium, will provide funding to the partners with the aim of converting poorly valorized residual wheat straw into second generation renewable isobutene, which can be converted into oligomers.
