SAGIA Inks Deals with Several Companies To Boost Petchem Sector in Saudi Arabia

Jubail-The Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority(SAGIA) has signed memorandum of understandings(MoUs) with several global companies and local entities to invest a total of over $2-million in the petrochemical industry in Saudi Arabia,reported several local media reports.SAGIA and SNF will evaluate setting up a polyacryla-mide plant in Jubail with 50,000 t/y of capacity.The facility is expected to create 80 new jobs.Mitsui & Co.and SAGIA agreed to set up an ammonia commercial production plant in Jubail with around 1-million t/y of capacity.The unit would use a”highly efficient”and”environmentally-friendly”manufacturing process,which may include carbon capture and storage,Arab News reported.The two will also work together to develop a specialty chemicals downstream opportunity.
