An annual event, now in its sixth year, the eagerly anticipated Fine Fragrance presentation was again hosted by the British Society of Perfumers in Manchester and London on consecutive evenings. With content based on her personal interaction with fragrance during 2016, Virginie Daniau of Parfum Parfait described the olfactory journey of over 20 female and ten male perfumes launched across the year. Clear trends emerged from this fascinating overview. Given the multi-faceted nature of fragrance, what became clear is that rather than a series of standalone accords, one or more of the trending notes were found to be woven into a number of different compositions - often crossing gender divides - to create memorable variations on a theme.
