Coty to sell Wella,Clairol,OPI & ghd brands to KKR

US Coty has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with private equity firm KKR for the sale of a majority stake of its Professional Beauty and Retail Hair businesses.The agreement outlines a plan for KKR to acquire 60% of the businesses,including the Wella,Clairol,OPI and ghd brands,for US$4.3bn,which would result in a $3bn cash payout for Coty.KKR has also been brought on board to provide Coty with support via an initial investment of $750m through the sale of convertible preferred shares.
