Much has been said about the ageing of the skin due to reduced collagen and elastin production,as well as the degradation and slowing of cellular growth in the epidermis, which in turn damages the skin's surface. These physiological changes,as well as the overall decrease in skin metabolism and redox imbalance, will increase over time resulting in significant aesthetic changes that include increased roughness of the skin, wrinkles, loss of elasticity and firmness, thinning of the skin and the appearance of age spots.More than 75% of anti-ageing cosmetic products launched worldwide in 2019 were focused on relieving the traditional physiological changes caused by ageing. However, bone retraction and the loss of adipose tissue(lipoatrophy)are also related to the appearance of ageing skin.Indeed, several studies have shown that the greater the face lipoatrophy(figure 1),the older it appears.
