WORLD Harrods has retained its title as the world's most successful luxury department store,according to a study by architects Sybarite.The annual report,put together in partnership with GlobalData,takes into account overall annual sales by calculating how much each sells per square footage of space.This includes online sales.This year,Harrods was bolstered by a 6.8% growth in sales to just over ￡2.1bn during the year to 3 February.Joseph Robinson,GlobalData's Retail Consulting Director,said:”The highest ranked retailers are all benefiting from their proactivity in investing in their stores,helping them to offer differentiation and a unique shopping experience.”Robinson also noted how important redevelopment is with the”relentless”rise of online.
